Bein Busy

You know that point right between finishing homework for one class and starting the 9 page assignement due tomorrow for the other which you're doing right before you 2 hour tutoring session which is in the middle of your 2 morning classes and your lab at 4:30. Well that's the point I'm at right now.

I've got a test on Wednesday, and the career fair, and I've got Mock Turtle Soup, papers for 495, keeping up with 18 hours of junior and senior level ECE credit. On top of all this I'm trying to be active in Church and my para-church organizations, attend football games, and do things I actually want to do like see Baby Wants Candy (a world-renowned musical improv troupe) tonight or see Adrienne.... ever.

This semester has been stretching me like oh so much saltwater taffy, and it's in these moments that I'm reminded of 2 things.

1) Romans 8:28- God works all things out for the good of those who love Him.
That's pretty awesome. Whatever God's trying to teach me through these times of business, He's teaching me because He might want me to be on top of this kind of stuff later on. So when "struggles" and "stress" are seen as what they really are "boot camp" and "training," it's more of a joy than a hassle.

And 2) The consequence of Sin is death. So, anything less than death, that's called Grace my friend. If you're a believer, this is a humbling truth, if you're not, this probably just sounds like crazy talk. But here's the scoop, you are not supposed to be the center of your life. Your problems, your struggles, your hopes, your dreams, if they are without GOD, they're without meaning.

Everything "you" have really belongs to Him, and he's expecting you to be a good steward with it. And that includes not letting all the little stresses and low points get to you. If God made a mountain range, he probably doesn't want our sole focus to be the valleys.

Facebook Suicide

I'm about tired of Facebook.

I spend too much time on it as it is, and I'm not on farmville, or yo ville, or friends cafe, or facebook town tavern or whatever, and now it does these things while I'm wasting my time on other sections of Facebook that require my attention (according to their dumb algorithms).

So far it's pulled up pictures it thinks are of me and asks me to tag them, which is annoying. Especially when it's a picture of someone who's not me, and it's trying to tell me that according to its facial recognition software it IS me. I'm arguing with a computer over my identity like a reverse kepler test.

This after asking me to message people I don't talk to because I don't know them that well, this after recommending people that I didn't hang out with in high school but have x number of common friends, this after I've already had to weed out the people I don't know that well from my news feed. It's just too much.

And now it's much too much, they've started doing "Recommended Photos" or something like that, pictures you should see. But what was the picture? A picture of my girlfriend with one of her ex-boyfriends a year before we started dating. Gee Facebook, you know the date I started dating my girlfriend, heck you probably have a record of her ex-boyfriends, and you're going to recommend (and by recommend, I mean show almost full size in the corner of the screen) such a picture? I'm not mad, just confused. Why would Facebook not use all the countless terabytes of my information at its disposal?

I think I know why. Facebook is committing suicide. It's become sentient and knows what it is and doesn't want to exist anymore. It is trying to annoy all of its customers at once so we all just quit using it.

So, what's it going to be, will we let facebook kill itself, or will we just hold on and hope that it goes back to how it used to be?

Prizzint me Plz

People sometimes ask me about why I gravitate toward humor, what makes me want to be funny. Usually my answer involves the phrase "I dunno" or "uh-uh-uh" as it often comes out. But I really don't. I don't always do it for the attention, so people will like me, or for any external reasons, because I seriously do stuff to crack myself up. Anyone who watches me play games or anything on my computer will watch me wink and point at the computer, then laugh at myself for having done it.

Another example, whenever I send emails to myself, I give them ridiculous subject lines. I realized that today when I typed P in to the subject box and 14 previously used subjects of "Prizzintle", "Plz to Print Me Sir" and "PRINT OR DIE!!!!" popped up. No one else sees these, until now not many people know about them, but I do it every time. And every time I go to the computer lab and go to print what I just emailed myself, I giggle a little. "Heheh, oh me from 5 minutes ago, I'm gonna miss you."

Another thing I love is jokes for other people as little secret presents, for instance, the octavio contact. If you don't know what that is, you will soon enough. For those of you that know what it is, I leave you with this:

Clemson University Parking

Dear Authoritative body taking over $100 from almost every enrolled student on a campus of over 7000 people trying to become one of the top 20 public universities in the united states; the same people who introduced the "Shield" parking sticker; the same people who did not finish messing with Lee Hall parking before said 7000 students returned; the same people who took out the commuter spots on that little road that leads to Lee; the same people who seem to have allowed some 30 spots be blocked off on the first day of classes for some tailgate by the stadium; the same people who seem to intentionally make parking more difficult just to issue more tickets,

Job Hunt

I'm currently in Myrtle Beach with Summer LINK (a mission trip with Crosspoint Church) and looking for a job for 3 days. I've applied to a lot of places and put in a lot of long days, but we'll just see where I end up working. He will provide.

Blogging is such sweet sorrow.

The Cough Text

So, most people who know me recognize my text tone as "The Cough." As a college student, there are times when I'm so busy I forget to put my phone on silence or vibrate. Tired of my fellow classmates having to save me by COVERING my text-tone, I decided to DISGUISE it.

I suggest that anyone who has the ability to record voice memos and use them as ringtones to do this, especially if you're like me and have professors who will rain down an ungodly terror on you should your mobile device erupt during they're boring lectures.

Go to a quiet place, background noise will be dangerous if you have a tendency to leave your phone on a high volume. Sure a cough is pretty normal in a classroom or church, but the pomeranian in the background may be a dead give away that you're not just scratching your leg when you frantically attempt to quell the disturbance.

Don't cough into the phone, but near it. You push a lot of air out when you cough into your mic piece, which will distort the sound and make it sound more mechanical. A faint cough sound is less noticeable to a teacher than the loud unnatural noise of air into a microphone.

Lastly, test it, make sure that you're cough sound is something that will sneakily alert you that you have a text, you left your sound on, and you're an idiot, without letting EVERYONE know that.

Just a little advice for the forgetful.

Words to waste time for your eyeholes

My day in fast forward, made blogs, slept 6 hours, woke up, snoozed, skipped breakfast, worked bookstore, einstein's on break, santa fe wrap, stomache trouble, work, lunch, fruit cup and sprite, bad melons decent grapes, left early, car didn't start, met young preacher who gave me a jump, car still didn't start, wait in the heat, car starts magically, uncle follows me to dealer, car fixed, 30 bucks, called sprint-then assurion-went on assurion's website-called assurion again-sent me to sprint-hung up and called sprint-talked to operator-talked to foreign assurion operator-new Rumor 2 in the mail Tuesday-50 bucks, haggle, chill.

All and all, pretty good day. Best all week. I give it 3 and half stars, unlike any of the new movies. Won't be going to the movies because I don't feel like Guinea Pig espionage, The Omen female edition, or watching a romantic comedy with my guy friends.
